PSA: I’m Still Alive

Hi, happy new year!
I would apologize for disappearing but this time, I don’t have to because I never did.
Only one reason exists as to why I have not published any stories until now: I didn’t know I could write from the mobile app. Once in the year, I checked and saw that I couldn’t. Then skip to December and I found out that I could. By then, it was already late. I needed to write from the app because I was at NYSC camp and I didn’t go with my laptop — it could have been stolen!
I’m happy this did not end up as an excuse though because I dutifully published on Substack throughout the ghost period. (I ended up writing from the website.)
I’ll still go ahead to post them here though. But as I do, I have to defend posting the same story on two platforms to myself.
Both platforms do not contain exactly the same content. There are two additional sections in the Substack newsletter — a book club and a space to share artwork — and in my head, the tones of writing differ. On here, I’m cool and collected but on there I’m the closest shade of me. (It probably has something to do with the feel of a private mailbox, and so, a private conversation with who’s reading it.)
So yeah, I am very much alive.
On other things, The Mind Palace had a good year in 2022!
